The Village of Nyack Recreation Department runs a multi-session youth recreation program with classes during the Spring, Fall and Winter seasons. The Recreation Department partners with local businesses to offer everything from skateboarding, music instruction, pre-K Kung Fu to Teen Aerial Yoga. We strive to service a wide range of interests and age groups. The Recreation Department manages the Nyack Kids Wrestling Club.  Every Spring our Recreation Director, Melody Partrick, along with Nyack High School coaches and players,  provide FREE beginner tennis lessons for children which is designed to help build the district’s tennis programs from the earliest ages.

The Recreation Department co-sponsors many outreach events throughout the year: Pride Windows, Earth Day Celebration, and the Great Nyack Get-Together are among the favorites.  In the past we have hosted a “Pickleball Demo Day” in conjunction with South Nyack, a “Pine Car Derby Day” with local Boy Scout Troops, a “Learn to Chess Day” with the Rockland Chess Club, the “Halloween 5K Race” and “1K Kids Run” that benefited the Nyack Center and the Rockland Road Runners Scholarship Fund, and proudly participate every year in painting our crosswalks with rainbow colors to celebrate June as Pride Month in collaboration with the Rockland County Pride Center.

The Great Nyack Get-Together is a free event that takes place in Memorial Park and on the Hudson River every fall.  The mission is to celebrate The Nyacks, neighboring towns, and villages while showcasing the range of services provided by the groups and individuals that make up the fabric of our community. Any non-profit group or organization serving Nyack and the surrounding communities is invited to participate.  For more information visit the Great Nyack Get Together.

Every September 11th, the Recreation Department hosts Hometown Heroes Observance, on the pier in Memorial Park, where we honor the local lives lost on that tragic day.

Nyack’s Village-wide Sidewalk Sales takes place in August and October.  Organized by the Recreation Department, the Village of Nyack offers free one-day sidewalk permits to any businesses in Nyack that would like to participate.

Movies Movies Movies! Drive-up and now Walk-up, the Recreation Department co-hosts outdoor movies on Main Street with Rivertown Films.
