The Annual Fireman’s Memorial Service was held this past Sunday, June 9th at Oak Hill Cemetery. Trustee Marie Lorenzini and I had the opportunity to attend this service and gather with friends, community members and family to commemorate those who have given their lives to save others. We listened to words of Reverend Hairston, Pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church as he spoke of those near and dear to us, members of the Nyack Community. Just this year we lost Jefferson Crowther and Homer Wanamaker, longtime members of Empire Hook & Ladder Company No 1. We remember those who we lost and give our thoughts and prayers to their families who have lost a loved one. A special thanks to those who contributed to this beautiful service - Rev. Hairston, for his insiprational message, Jim Rensink for his musical contribution, the Ladies Auxiliary for their year-round care of the Fireman’s Memorial Monument, the Cassidy family for providing the flowers, Nyack College for hosting the annual breakfast, and those who helped prepare for this service. We also want to thank our volunteer Fireman who protect us and keep us safe every day.
