Low Cost Renewable Electricity Coming to the Village …

In its commitment to preserve the environment, Nyack, along with other Rockland Communities, will enter into a bulk purchasing agreement to secure renewable electricity at lower rates than O&R offers. This agreement known as Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) lowers the cost of electricity by utilizing economies of scale. By working together as a group, the cost of electricity goes down. If you chose to participate, your electricity supplier will change, but O&R will continue to deliver electricity. Notification letters will be sent to all eligible households and businesses currently purchasing the O&R default supply this spring. Residents and local businesses who have O&R as their electricity provider will automatically be enrolled but have the option to opt-out. Those who currently receive electricity supply from a third party company will need to opt in to the program. To learn more, see the FAQs at Hudson Valley Community Power or call (845) 859 9099.   Convenient walk-in question and answer sessions will be scheduled in communities in Orangetown and Clarkstown over the next several months.
